UAL Supports Adopt A Shelter Pet Day
April 30 is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. Each year, United Ad Label works to draw attention to the challenges that animal shelters face. We try to promote their good work and encourage our customers, stakeholders, families and friends to provide support. Further, we recognize the volunteer hours that many veterinarians contribute to the shelters in their communities.
As part of our campaign to increase shelter pet awareness, we donate 1,000 pounds of pet food to a deserving shelter each year. But, we need your help to identify facilities to participate in our drawing. Please nominate an animal shelter that does good work in your community for their chance to win.

If you’re not sure why you should take two minutes to nominate a shelter, here are seven reasons you should do so.
1 Overpopulation
6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters each year.
2 Animals Euthanized
1.5 million animals are euthanized due to space and funding challenges.
3 Lack Of Awareness
Many people are unaware of the valuable services shelters provide that include spay and neutering services along with financial support allowing low-income families or people with chronic illnesses to keep their pets.
4 Encourage People To Look For Pets At Shelters First
43% of dogs are acquired from friends, relatives, private parties and pet stores, 34% of dogs are purchased from breeders, but only 23% from shelters.
5 Increase Donations
The vast majority of animal shelters are non profit and exist solely on donations.
6 Increase Volunteers
Shelters rely on volunteers to meet their ongoing manpower needs.
7 Reallocate Funds
Last year’s pet food recipient was Lakeshore Paws in Valparaiso, Indiana. The UAL pet food donation allowed them to redirect dollars to pet healthcare and other needs that they might have otherwise been unable to fund.
Please take two minutes to nominate a shelter. And, if you own a shelter pet or know someone who does, please share your pictures and stories. Lastly, help us spread the word. Shelter pet adoption is good for families, shelters and the communities they serve. Thank you for helping to support our cause.
